Conveyancers using Hoowla’s online platform to manage and progress their conveyancing matters can now shield themselves from the risk of vender conveyancer fraud with Lawyer Checker. Lawyer Checker provides the purchase conveyancer with information on the vendor’s conveyancer in order to assess the risk associated with the transaction. Hoowla implemented Lawyer Checker’s online service in such a way that it provides a consistent and integrated experience for users of Hoowla’s conveyancing platform. Checks can be performed without having to leave Hoowla with the results delivered immediately back into the case.

Adam Curtis, CEO at Hoowla comments:

Lawyer Checker is a unique service designed to help protect both firms and their clients and was a no brainer for us to include in our conveyancing platform. By providing an in app experience in Hoowla, conveyancers don’t have to switch screens when using different services and their work environment remains the same. At Hoowla we feel it’s important that the experience remains consistent for our users and we aim to fully integrate with as many services as we can to help conveyancing departments progress matters, mitigate risk and adhere to compliance regulations.

Chris Harris, Managing Director at Lawyer Checker comments:

It is fantastic to have Hoowla come on board and integrate the Lawyer Checker system into their own. This partnership provides the ultimate in online modern conveyancing. During 2014 we have seen the SRA scam alerts accelerate in numbers; by being able to conduct this simple check within the Hoowla platform, conveyancers are offered a fresh and efficient approach to their case management whilst still remaining diligent and adhering to Rule 10.

In business since late 2011, Lawyer Checker’s MD and qualified Property Solicitor Chris Harris saw a gap in the conveyancing market; theft of innocent people’s purchase funds by sophisticated criminals was increasing and there was nothing out there that allowed for a conveyancer to comprehensively check where their client’s hard earned cash and mortgage funds were going.

Built in response to this increase in vendor conveyancer fraud, the Lawyer Checker database has been created to demonstrate whether or not an account has had a track record of successful use within conveyancing.

Now integrated fully into the transparent and easy to use Hoowla system the Lawyer Checker check provides conveyancers with  the information  they need to  offer peace of mind to both themselves and the client, whether borrower or lender.

Conveyancing PortalOnline conveyancing platform Hoowla has launched in an effort to help continue the modernising of the industry and improve customer experience. The platform allows all parties in a house purchase; solicitors, estate agents, lenders, buyers and sellers, to log in and check up-to-date progress of the property transaction. The launch has come following nine months of development and feedback from a trial group of solicitors.

The conveyancing process is increasingly coming under pressure to be more transparent whilst at the same time solicitors have less time to process each case. Moving conveyancing online is now being seen by many as the most cost effective way to solve this.

Companies like Hoowla, all the way to the Law Society, are seeing this as the way forward. With the changes proposed at the Land Registry the way conveyancing is done in the UK is set to change and Hoowla’s timely launch is ideally placed to support the industry with any changes in the way they have to work with the Land Registry.

Adam Curtis, founder and CEO of Hoowla, commented:

‘Our main aim has been to build a conveyancing portal that the industry wants to use without having to pay out large costly investments and get tied into lengthy contracts. Delivering software online is becoming more common place across all industries from estate agency to accounting. We are excited to have reached this first milestone and have many exciting services and partnerships to announce in 2014.’’

The Hoowla system is able to track the online engagement of buyers, sellers and estate agents, seeing over 95% access the platform for case updates and over 50% of users logging in daily. Hoowla has grown its paying customer base by over 143% since launch in 2014.

Hoowla’s portal adopts a ‘pay per case’ model with no setup costs, no minimum licence terms and no limit on number of users. It removes all initial barriers to entry by providing software that any conveyancing firm can try, irrespective of size or case volume. Hoowla’s portal is free to use for all other parties in the property transaction. It is accessed online through a web browser and requires no software to install.

Hoowla is a private limited company developing online conveyancing software for the property industry to improve communication and collaboration, manage customer expectations and increase transparency.
