Conveyancing software provider Hoowla has introduced automatic property search alerts into their case management software to help customers make informed decisions when ordering property searches. Using data provided by the coal authority, the first of Hoowla’s search alerts determines whether the property being purchased falls within an area which could be affected by coal mining. The property is clearly marked on a map along with the boundaries of known coal mining areas and an alert to order a CON29M is prominently displayed if the property falls within the boundary.

Adam Curtis, CEO at Hoowla comments, “Search alerts have been available in the property search industry for some time but have yet to feature in the software conveyancers use every day. This is the first of many search alerts we plan to display in Hoowla to help our users make the right search buying decisions for their clients at the right time.”

Customers can order property searches directly through Hoowla and fulfilled orders are automatically returned by the search provider into the case ready to be downloaded and shared. Customers using one of Hoowla’s integrated conveyancing search partners (while it’s not a requirement) benefit from a seamless and hassle free search ordering experience. Hoowla is partnering with an ever-growing number of search providers, the most recent being Quantus Conveyancing Support Services.

Hoowla’s latest update assists solicitors in complying with their anti-money laundering (AML) obligations. An electronic AML check can be effortlessly performed on any client providing a clear “PASS or REFER” result within seconds. An AML certificate detailing the result is produced automatically and saved against the client’s record, providing piece of mind that satisfactory Know Your Customer (KYC) and Customer Due Diligence (CDD) is being carried out.

Customers of Hoowla will benefit from one free AML check with each case run through their conveyancing software. Each subsequent check will be charged at £3.70. No annual licenses or minimum spend are required. Hoowla operates a cost per case charging model where the average cost of a conveyancing case is £14.

The Law Society identify that compliance with money laundering obligations is one of the greatest challenges facing solicitors in the UK today. The timely launch of Hoowla’s integrated AML service arrives amid growing concern of complicity in the property industry, with professionals also failing to fulfil obligations to report suspicious transactions. The recent airing of Channel 4’s Dispatches ‘From Russia with Cash’ helps to fuel the public’s perception that areas of the UK’s property market, particularly London, are considered a haven for money laundering.

Adam Curtis, Hoowla CEO says “At Hoowla we are always looking to help solicitors. Our latest integration around AML is further proof of our intent. We don’t lock our customers into using Hoowla and this makes us motivated to always give a 100% to retain every firm on a case by case basis.”

Martin Cheek MD of SmartSearch says “We see Hoowla as a leading provider in the conveyancing market and are very pleased that they are partnering with us for their AML checks. Breaking news from the Hoowla conveyancing software team

With five new solicitors signing up to Hoowla in the last three weeks it’s been a busy time. We still have managed to add new functionality into the system. Take a look at our new features: –

Allow clients to instruct your firm from a quote and supply case details before you have even opened the file.

We are always looking to improve the number of clients that instruct from a quote and the time it takes to setup a case.

With our new instruct button we have achieved both. With a tick of a box in your quote calculator setup area you can turn on the instruct from quote button on all quotes. This means the client can then instruct you from the quote and fill in extra details around the case to pre-populate the documents before you have even opened the file.

We can also customise the text and data collected, along with automatically sending out additional documents on case create, like your client welcome pack.

This feature can be used by full case management users and our quote calculator only customers.
.

Request Missing Data from Anyone in the Case to Auto Complete Documents

Hoowla has always allowed you to quickly request data from anyone involved in the case but over the last few months we have compiled your feedback and now made it even easier to request and fill in data for any document template stored on our system.

Clients of Hoowla’s online conveyancing case management system can now send documents to be electronically signed. An electronic signature is the digital equivalent of a written (wet) signature. The process is tightly integrated into Hoowla and made possible with the use of Hoowla’s document exchange facility which allows solicitors to send and receive digital documents securely.

Hoowla have partnered with Signable, a leading provider of electronic signature solutions to deliver the digital signatures. Signable complies with e-signature laws set by the UK and other member states within the European Union, exceeding all of the regulations regarding accepting and processing documents, signed via electronic signatures.

Olly Culverhouse, Owner of Signable comments, “We are ecstatic that Hoowla have decided to partner with us at Signable. We both share a common goal of making business easier for our customers and Signable can really help when managing the signature process for conveyancing related documents and contracts. We are seeing a large increase in awareness of tools like Signable across many different industries however I personally believe that the legal and property sectors are where we can really make a huge difference to business.”

There are still property documents that cannot be executed electronically, principally the deeds which still require a wet signature by law. However a number of documents involved in the conveyancing process can be signed electronically namely around instructing a client. Clients using Hoowla’s digital signatures save on printing and postage costs, associated delays and benefit from documents being signed and returned in minutes.

The future is set to change however and Scotland has already made steps to allow conveyancing to be concluded electronically, supported by the introduction of their Smartcard which acts as a professional ID and provides a secure digital signature. Professor Stewart Brymer OBE, Past-Convenor of the Conveyancing Committee of The Law Society of Scotland and e-conveyancing specialist has been a strong advocate of change, arguing that legally binding electronic signatures and secure electronic document exchange protocols can only be positive for Scottish conveyancing.

Adam Curtis, CEO of Hoowla comments, “To achieve a total digital office, electronic document signing is a must have. Digital signatures are becoming more common place across all areas of industry as more contracts are handled online. They improve customer experience and efficiency whilst lowering cost and provide huge benefits when integrated with back office systems like Hoowla.”
